Generally speaking, the conductive additive amount of a lithium ion battery is 1%-3% of the anode or cathode weight. Carbon black as the conductive additive is usually about 3% of the cathode weight, while CNT conductive additive can decrease to about 0.5%~1%, thus enhance the content of active materials in the cathode, which is conducive to improving the energy density of the lithium-ion battery.
Compared with the traditional carbon black, CNT additive amount is about 0.5%-1.5% to achieve the desired conductivity, with the dose reduced by nearly 50% than that of carbon black. The additive amount is less, but the performance is better, which is the most important reason why the lithium ion battery enterprises will gradually replace the traditional conductive paste with the conductive paste of CNT.
