Composite materials of CNT fiber are excellent in fatigue durability and flexibility, and are more suitable for manufacturing prosthesis for patients with disabilities than other materials. The prosthesis designed and made of the composite materials of CNT fiber is high in strength, light in weight and more perfect in function. It could bear the weight of patients very well and be effectively controlled so that patients could be more comfortable and have more freedom of mobility.
CNT can be used as the scaffolding for bone tissue engineering. It functions as an inert framework on the surface of which the cells grow and form new active materials that transfer into the normal, functional bone tissue. CNT – polymer based composite scaffolding materials are widely applied in the research of bone tissue engineering at present. Many research results indicate that the alginate/SWCNT scaffolding can be used as the promising biological materials of tissue engineering. Additionally,, the composite materials of CNT fiber structure provide the best scaffolding for cell growth, which indicates that the CNT composite materials have great potentials in the field of tissue repair and regeneration.
